Best patch panels???

This might need to be in the body section but it pertains to this model truck.

I'm a seasoned body man (collision) and this is the first full restoration I've ever done. My question is, Are all patch panels hard to work with as far asfitting. I'm doing my floors, rockers, and A post. I know it's not a factory piece, but come on. I got my panels from Goodmark. Thinking it would be a good product. I like the thickness. Cab mount hole is about an 1-1 1/2" from where it needs to be. I want to know everyones thoughts. I haven't even got to the rocker yet.

I'm guessing that all the Catalog guys are getting their parts from the same supplier. The quality is fair at best. I got some pans from LMC and they have the same tag as what you got there. My rockers were a little short but workable. I'm finishing up on body work and soon I'll need weatherstrips,window channels, glass moldings etc.. I wonder what that stuff will be like?

I just replaced the floor pan in my 1965 K20 and it wasn't to bad of a fit. But what I noticed was they list the floor pan in the catalogs for 1960-1966. I know my 1962 K20's floor pan is alot differant because of the narrower frame The cab mounting dimples where you drill the holes are alot closer to the hump.

i posted about this same problem several weeks ago... since then i have replaced both floor pans and i am now working on the rockers inner/outer and the cab corners. the left floor pan was pretty close but i cut about 8 inches off of the right side of it (where the gas pedal is) because it wasnt even close. as for the right pan i did the same cutting about 8 inches off the transmission side of it. then i had to weld it in and cut the right side of the pan about 2 inches from the door and add a piece in the middle to get it to fit cause the stamped sections werent even close. both from brothers and they have similar stickers. i think they are all the same! just my 2 cents

I temporarily hung the door and fender. I'm pleased with the first fit. The gaps need some work but they are workable. So far the only problem that I've encountered with AM parts is the pans. I haven't did the A post yet or inner and outer rockers.

One thing I can honestly say is the aftermarket panels and cab floor supports don't fit worth **** you have to cut, modify, and weld the new ones in. The rocker panels I didn't have much of a problem with but make sure you have the door still attached but the cab floor supports are a PAIN I used a cutting wheel and an air chisel to remove mine but putting the new ones in wasn't too bad but the cab corners you'll have a few choice words about how they match up.

Most the stuff comes from one or two manufacturers. Most parts fit decent, but all need some work, and then there are some that are not even close.

You'll find that one or two companies actually make these panels, everyone else sells pretty much the same thing, just in a different package.

That looks real nice. A little more tweakage and you'll have it. That some major work you got going there.

We have had alot better luck with DII(used to be crash parts) Lots better fit. Not so much fab time..They all take some. Good luck! Kellie
