I am starting to look around at what wheel/tire combo I will be running on my truck. I have a 62 fleetside with a what i believe is a 67-70 disk break front end and rear end. My truck will be lowered 4 in the rear and 3 in the front. I want to run 275/60/15 tires on a 15x10 wheel in the rear. What backspacing should I run to make this fit my truck. From what I have researched im thinking 4.5 backspacing should work but I wanted to throw it up on the forum and see what you guys think.

Also what do you guys think I should run on the front? I would like to run 275/60/15's on the front as well but i have no idea if i should try and fit them on a 15x8 or a 15x10 wheel, and have no idea what backspacing for the front.

I am mostly worried about the rear backspacing right now but would also appreciate any help on the front as well. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I really don't know if the 62' is much different than my 64' as far as clearance goes. Also, is the rear end the same width as a stock unit? If everything is the same as a 64' the most backspacing I can run and still allow for any movement is 3.75" bs with a 15" wheel. You may be able to get by with 4" but I think they may rub if the tire flexes much during cornering. I've already got my wheels but I'm waiting on my tires. I'll be running a 235/70/15 in the front and a 285/70/15 in the rear, 5" drop in the rear and 2.5" in the front. Hope any of this helps.

wow...maybe I was way off with my guess of 4.5 backspacing. Can anybody else chime in and let me know what they think. Or anybody else running 15x10 on their truck?

Running a 10" on the rear isn't going to be an issue as far as room goes. You’re just going to have to be spot on with your backspacing. From the inner fender on the bed to the lip of the wheel well I have 13" of clearance. My 8.5" wheels have 3.75 bs and I still have a lot of room between the outer part of the wheel and the lip on the wheel well.

I have 15x 10 on the rear with 275/60 with 4" bs. I can post pics when i get home. I have 15 x 8 on the front with 235/70/15 . The rear tires rubbed before I lowered it, but now that it is 4" lower they do not rub at all

fchava, thats what I was looking for...some body running the same setup. I really want to run some 15x10 with 275/60/15 drag radials on the rear. Im planning on running some corvette rallye wheels with beauty rings and baby moons (going for the older hot rod look) but wheel vintiques only sells them with 4 and 4.5 backspacing. I wanted to make sure they would fit before i threw down the cash. So if 4 inch backspacing worked for you I dont see why it wouldnt work for me. Is anybody else on the forum running 15x10 on these year trucks?

I'm not too sure about the back spacing or offset that you would need. I had 295/50/15's all the way around on my '65 stepside which filled up the fender wells quite nicely. I got the rims from my uncle he had them on his '95 Chevy Suburban.

how badly do our year trucks and the 67-72 trucks differ from what size wheels we can run? Are the wheel wells different in size, rear ends different lengths? I would imagine they are pretty close to the same...but im guessing. I know there is a lot more info on wheels and backspacing on the 67-72 board but i dont know if that info would apply to us. Fchava has me thinking 4 inches of backspacing will more than likely work, but just looking for as much info as possible.
