Re: coil over shock options

Look at this thread for the front
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=266485

As far as the rear goes, your going to need to either 4 link the truck, or put on a set of trailing arms from a 63-72 chevy truck. A good place to look parts is summitracing.com

Hope this helps!

Re: coil over shock options

This is a very complex topic. It cannot be answered with-out a lot more information about the truck.
LWB or SWB?
Front-rear weight ratio?
Total weight?
Intended use?
etc....
That is just for the rear
Putting coil-overs in the front will take a lot more work
It will take quite a bit of suspension modification. I would say tubular upper control arms and new shock mounts at a bare minimum.
Then you are back to more questions again.
Engine? BBC, SBC, I6?
A/C?
Any other factors that effect weight?
Wheel/tire?
etc.....
Even with all of this, it is still just an educated guess. You may still need to change springs as part of the tuning process, assuming that you are looking for optimum performance in your intended use.

Kit? .........Probably, and most of the thinking should already be done that way, but I would bet that the company will still ask you for some specifics.

Re: coil over shock options

Give QA1/Carrera shocks a call. They have alot of different valving options for the same body(non adjustable,50/50, 90/10,rebound only, single and dual adjustable), plus theyre prices are really good for what you get. They also offer alot of spring rates in alot of different lengths. Good Luck.

well that helps alot. the truck is a 1986 swb c10. i have no clue what the weight is, but it does have a sbc chevy in it right now, i have plans for a bbc, but thats not for a few more years so i will change out whatever i have to then. A/C..yes. front wheels and tires. 18x8 boyd coddington junk yard dogs wrapped with 26x10x18 mickey thompson s/r radials. i think i have got the rear figured out with a coil over kit from QA1, im going with the promastar. the truck is street/strip with about 80% of the time on the street and cruising. and im really trying to get a good handling truck. im going to give QA1 a call to see about the front

Re: coil over shock options

Glad I could help.
You mention "good handling" and I assume you mean street cornering, but that and drag racing are quite different. You may have to compromise a bit or at least be prepared to do some tuning before you race. Adjustable valving on the shocks at a minimum. Some more adjustability in the rear would be benificial too, more than the stock trailing arm set-up.
