Parking Brake Lever Removal
Merry Christmas to All on the Board!!
Did my best to glean this from the search options - no luck. I need to replace or repair my E-Brake pedal assembly. Do any of you have a drawing, scan or picture of how this is done and what steps to do it. Darn thing ratchets back almost every time I use it. (I'm pretty sure the teeth are shot.) I just don't want to attempt this in 17º temps at the Pick n Pull. Also, what years would work on a 1980 K10. Thanks!! - Dave

Re: Parking Brake Lever Removal
Hi, mine in my 73 was doing the same thing, so I tore the old one out, wich was a little tricky but fairly straight forward. After looking at it when it was out, the teeth were a little warn, but I thought I could drill a hole and add a spring, it should work. Looked good but didn't work much better when reinstalled. Anyway bought a new one from lmc, wich I wish I would have done to begin with, and its worth it. Also when working under dash I always say it would be smart to take out seat for more room but never do. good luck, bob

Re: Parking Brake Lever Removal
I don't have a scanner.I have a 85 service manual. It says(1)Place parking brake pedal or handle in the released position.(2)Remove nuts from the engine compartment on C,K and G models or bolts from the mounting brackets on P models.Take notice of the spacers on P models for reinstallation.(3) Disconnect the release Handle rod at the parking brake assembly end(C-K models).(4) Remove the bolts from the underside of the dash and lower the brake assembly(C-K-G Models).(5) C-K-G Models-Disconnect the cable ball from the parking clevis and remove the assembly.Installation. (1) Reverse the removal procedure.Torgure all bolts and nuts. After installing the clevis pin.Adjust the cable if necessary as outlined below.Torgure specs. To dash 100 in.
