Funny Ford 4x4? Story
OK. I had to share this. A co-worker of mine just told me this story. His brother just bought a brand new Ford F-350 4x4 with all the bells & whistles. He paid around $50,000 for it.
On its maiden voyage he took it up in the mountains to go skiing. Along the way he pulled off in the deep snow to help a stuck motorist. Then as he tried to leave the truck wouldn't get out the snow in two wheel drive so he engaged the 4wd. Im guessing it must have been a button or something simple on a new rig like that. But still it was stuck. After checking things he noticed that the front tires weren't pulling, he couldn't get the 4wd to engage. So he climed underneath to inspect it and low and behold....no front axle, no transfer case! His brand new truck was a two wheel drive with full 4wd badging and interior controls! The California Ford dealership did take care of him with towing and a new rig but still a funny tale. |

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story
Ah, com'on, it is New Year's eve not April fools day. Even a Ford quality inspector would have caught that. The Ford 4x4's and 4x2's even sit at different elevations unlike the new GM trucks. Sounds like a chain of blind idiots. Better check snoops.com...... I am thinking

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story
Yup, It must be a really stuuuupid fella to buy a 4x4 and never notice it was a two wheeler till he needed it. I'm sure most of us would be crawling all over and under our new rigs just to see how things tick. If we could ever afford one, or want one.

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story
Maybe ford had a better idea, just pull this lever and think yourself unstuck, and it will happen....or it could be one of those very rare options, 4wd w/o the 4

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story
Some people could buy,drive,pay-off,and sell without even knowing it didn`t have a 4wd train.

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story
I bet now days most new 4x4 drivers wouldn't even notice they didn't have 4x4 since they don't leave the pavement. (Ford trying to improve their bottom line. Charging for 4x4 but not installing it.)

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story
I was leaving my Dads place in PA and the snow was the kind that was just damp enough to pack and be slippery at the same time. Anyway this guy in an F150 with snow tires on all 4 wheels is on a pretty steep hill sideways across the road with his a$$ in the ditch. So I get out of my Blazer and walk up the hill. As i'm walking up the hill and past the truck I'm looking all over the sthe side for something that said 4x4 or all wheel drive...nothing. The guy is walking towards me and says "The 4 WD wont engage". I see a "rescue" chevy ahead backing toward the stuck F150. I said, "you made it pretty far up the hill though". he said yea it just wouldnt go any further and on this turn it lost traction". Some thing was eating at me so i got down in front of his truck and just like the above.....nothing....plain old 2wd. I said this truck isnt 4WD to the guy, he said and I quote.."The Dealer said it was when they sold me the truck". I told him that he needs to take it back because its missing all the 4WD parts. He laughed and asked me if I was kidding. The funniest part was he said that he had the 4WD buttons in the cab as well..
I am grateful I was blessed with a clue........... Frank

Re: Funny Ford 4x4? Story
you know i really want a 64-66 4wd and was thinking of going through the trouble of swapping my 66 cab to a 4x4 frame but on second thought ill just put some 4x4 stickers and a button in the cab and get through those trails on hopes and dreams!!!!!!!!! lol seriously though, if i was gonna spend that kind of money on a new truck i would go over every inch of it before i bought it. and if i did mine would be a new dodge 4x4 with a cummins turbo diesel, or a chevy 2500 4x4. thats a very funny story.
