Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
Hello-
Is anyone running full length headers with a torsion bar front end? If so, what brand (Part number?) I have been looking around, but the few brands I find for 60-66 say 'without torsion bar front' and I don't have spare cash to trust the parts store guys who haven't tried to fit them personally... Thanks All! -Matt

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
I think the only the shorties will work. When I had my 62 I called Summit and a few other places and they told me only shorties would work. I know it sucks!!

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
for my 65 it came with custom headers that are a very tight fit inside there with the 400 but they fit and look nicely but if im correct torsion bars are anotehr type of springs for our trucks but i know mine doesnt have them it has coil springs in the front

I like the Patriots, they look nice as well. Hooker is also good, they have been around awhile.

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
Oh ya, one other thing.... when the write up on a header refers to 'angled plugs' do they mean the plug boot angled at 90 degrees instead of straight out? Or do they mean something else....

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
On some of the Chevy heads, the plug is actually angled, not sticking out 90 degrees from the head

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
I see...Out of curiosity I will google it and see if I can find a pic. but I think I can visualize what you are saying. I would think my original 283 w/stock heads would be straight plug...
Thank you for clarifying -Matt

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
Hey Matt, did you get the shorty headers yet? I'm about to place an order and was deciding to go with hugger headers or shorties. Any pics would be great.

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
Not yet... I blew my $$$ on stuff to get my 'new' used carb rebuilt. Headers will be next on my list, but I have to wait I still plan on getting those hooker headers mentioned above. I had been looking on ebay, but all I was finding were cheap block-huggers, I worry those may not hold up.... Let us know what you do!

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
I used dynomax full length headers in my 61 with torsion bars. I'm running a big block and still got them to fit. Let me know if you would like a part #.

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
Big block headers will NOT work on a small block

Re: Headers + Torsion Bar front end ?
I've been using the good ol' fasioned $90.00 flowtechs. Had to notch the stock 4 speed tranny crossmember a bit. not a bad fit otherwise.
