Side Steps

so i did a search on side steps and can't find much.
there is a thread called "lets see your steps" with this picture.
i like the single step and would like one added.
what's the consensus on this?
i know mounting to the boxes is not a good idea but what is the alternative? (?back to the frame)
will one of the *carr* truck steps work?

any advice appreciated...
