WANTED GM 6 cyl engines. Straight and V-6.near Pennsville,NJ
WANTED GM 6 cylinder engines. Straight and 'V-6.
A shot in the dark here on the first one, but i told the guy i would try for him. the first 6 cyl. needed is an integeral head, 250 CID ,straight six. Commonly found in Chevy/GMC trucks in the 77-84 range. Also used in Novas and other GM cars around the mid-late seventies. There is no EXACT year that they went to the integral head engine in the trucks/vans vs. cars because GM always let the trucks lag a few years before getting 'new' technology. . the integral head engines used the staged 2 bbl. carb instead of the one barrel Rochester used on the earlier sixes. The second one needed is the common 4.3 V-6. Commonly it is identified by a letter 'Z' as the 8th digit in the VIN. It MUST be either the early 4 barrel carb or a TBI. If it is a 92-95 engine it could be either TBI or the H.O. CPI because there were a few years that they made both engines. I cannot use a CPI. the TBI looks almost like a carbureted engine with a typical round metal air cleaner. Since i am trying to help a local truck guy out i want to either be able to hear the engine run or offered the option to set it up on my test stand before I commit to it. If the truck/car is cheap $ enough that i can get my money back in scrap value alone I'll haul it away. BTW- I'll haul away any truck/van /car you just want out of the yard if it's within 50 miles of Pennsville. Pennsville is at the base of the Delaware Memorial Bridge on the Jersey side. right across from Wilmington, Delaware. Although it is further than 50 miles from here, I am also familiar with the Pottstown, Pa. area and have peole in that area i can visit. In closing, because i SOMETIMES part out Chevy trucks in the 73-87 range I am willing to buy a whole parts truck, (It does not HAVE to be 73-87 GM truck though),but because i have to do the work of pulling the engine/trans. I am limited on price i will pay. I'm not being cheap, but I'm not paying $400- and up for a truck i am ripping apart. UNLESS you can prove the engine is fresh or something. title not needed so that may help my cause. I have BILL OF SALE already made up you will have to sign to cover my butt. please use my email below as PM's go into my spam mail and I have to see them before deletion. please use " 6 CYL." in the subject line. thanx , crossy dbcrossy@verizon.net

Hey Dave,
My stepson has an 85 monte carlo for sale. It has a 4.3 TBI in it. The engine would be good for a rebuild as it has a knock in it. There is also no reverse. It does start and run and can be driven. He is asking $500 b/o for it. I can send you some better pictures via email if you like. Denny |

It would make a great hot rod for one of those SBC's you have laying around
