69 grill in a 71
I like the looks of a 69 Grill and I was wondering what a pain it would be to do, I have been told I would have relocate my hood latch but I looked at a 69 the other day and I couldn't see any difference......with all the know how on this I'm sure some will be able to tell me.

Re: 69 grill in a 71
A 69-70 grill will bolt on in place of a 71-72. Who ever told you that was probably confused with a 67-68. If you do put a 69 grill on a 71, you will either have two sets of parking/turn signals or you'll need to change out the front bumper for a 69 as well. 69-70 also had a bow-tie emblem on the hood rather than the grill.

69-70 grille on my 71.
here it is when I 1st installed it. You need to replace the center grille support with a 69-70 one as they are a different shape from the 71-72. No other mods needed. Then after I installed some Hella driving lights and the Bowtie on the hood.

Re: 69 grill in a 71
I lied...I forgot the hood latch DOES need to be switched as well.
Otherwise the 71-72 release lever ends up interfering with the 69-70 plastic grille. I believe the only diff. is the length of the release lever though.

Re: 69 grill in a 71
But if you go to FAQ you'll find a writeup by Putter that replaces the handle on the latch with a late model cable if you want to update it a little.
