Gas Tank
Hey everyone hows it going i need help again I bought a stock gas tank for my blazer its a 72. Well my problem is that the gas tank in it now is one the guy that had it before me well basically welded up a box. When i got it it leaked I dropped it and fixed the leak well once i started driving it I had fuel delivery problems. Well for christmas i bought myself a gas tank, new weather stripping and rims, tires. Well now i'm ready to put the gas tank in and i was wondering what the original filler neck looked like under the truck can anybody give me a picture or something this guy used fittings for like a sink or something like that can someone help me out on how it was originally set up...... Thanks

Re: Gas Tank
Don't forget your putting gas thru that rubber hose and not anti-freeze

Re: Gas Tank
I'm sorry, I thought it was clear, the hose you buy has to handle fuel. So, to answer your question, no you cannot use a radiator hose....

Re: Gas Tank
I think you shoud be able to take it to a auto parts store tell them its for a gas filler neck and they shoud have some universal hose on a spool or even places that sell industeral hose would have it

Re: Gas Tank
It is 1 3/8 inch fuel line. I could not find 1 3/8 fuel line when I did my gas tank on my 1972 Jimmy a few months ago. I used 1 1/2 fuel line/hose and it worked fine.
Are you putting an aftermarket/replacement tank in? If you are there is another issue with the fill neck on the reproduction tanks. Here is a thread discussing it |

Re: Gas Tank
if you become a paying member ($25.00 ) you can place a Want to Buy add for the filler tube. That is what I did. You can find them for 20-50 bucks. The hose will be hard to route (Fuel hose is stiff) so it does not rub on the body mount. If you get the filler and need some help feel free to PM me and I have already done it.

Re: Gas Tank
I put a blazer tank under my bed. Hard to find that filler tube, so I alked to a few hot rod guys. Their answer was almost always the same
Use marine Filler hose. Made to handle fuel, and available in about any size you can think of. It routed pretty easy considering how stiff the hose is. A few hose mounts and it's out of the way and won't rub on anything.

Re: Gas Tank
If it does look like it will kink, you can buy that steel coil stuff at Jeg's. Sorta supports the inside when bending

Re: Gas Tank
yeah, I was taught the only stupid Question is "Can I ask a stupid question?" (what?!)
The only way to learn is to acknowledge that you don't know how to do something, and to ask!

Re: Gas Tank
I too had a hard time finding the right filler hose when I put a new tank in my blazer...the answer for me was I went to the nearest boat-yard (probably not a lot of them around you) and get the coast guard approved for fuel hose...its like 7 bucks a foot, but definitly worth the 20 bucks. Its stiff and re-inforced with steel. great stuff...anyways, good luck!
