Newer rear end in 65 c10
The rear end in a wrote off 96 gmc I have is a 3:73 posi. Does anyone know how this will compar in width in the 65 c10 im buying?

The posi units in those are terrible. They are the gov lock design and very weak. I have blown up quite a few. However; It is an 8.5 which are pretty strong and the car posi units fit them and are very cheap and strong. The width should be fine. Just have to weld on the new perches. Easier said than done! lol

The '96 GMC rear end is going to be at least 1.5" wider than a rear end in a '65 C10. I don't remember for sure but it may be more than 1.5"....I know the '88 and newer rear ends are pretty wide. When measuring rear ends, measure wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface for an accurate comparison.
