Re: how low is to low for the back

Just to save me from typing a lot, do a quick search for cutting coils and you'll get a ton of threads telling you everything you'll need to know (look for related titles).

There is a lot of info, including how much each coil cut will get you, the safest number of coils, adverse effects, and other info you need (shocks, etc.)

Good luck.

Re: how low is to low for the back

well, technically you don't need to notch, you could just put a bumptop on the bottom of the framerail and let the axle smack into it. it's not that much diff't. you're really only giving up about an inch of the travel it could've had. but if you drop that low, you'll really benefit from ditching your old panhard bar and getting an adjustable one like the unit ECE sells ("super panhard bar" is what it's called on their site). otherwise your ass end is gonna shift sideways and be outta whack.

if you go 6-7+ inches drop, the top of the gearbox/pumpkin is gonna smack into the bottom of the bed anyway.

i've seen guys trucks here that are running bags with no notch and they looked nice and slammed while sitting on the bumpstop they put under the framerail.

So .. yeah .. up to you, really.

They sell really shallow "Pancake" bumpstops. They're round and flat like the shape of an Advil cut in half and made out of polyeurethane. I have a couple downstairs and can find out the company if you need it (if I can remember in the morning).

ps -

check this thread:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=255929

Lots of good info and links, and if you read really close you can find some guys in there running bags with NO notch. it will give you an idea of what you're looking at.

Re: how low is to low for the back

are you talking about the coils (springs) in the rear? If so you can not cut those.

I have never ordered from this company before, so I don't know what your shopping experience will be.

With that said, look at this page:
http://www.suspension.com/Bumpstop.htm

The top middle (red) bumpstop is what I'm talking about. It looks like one $9 package contains two bumpstops, if I'm reading that correctly.

You won't need a c-notch at 6". I've done it a ton of times.
