Hi every one I've been a member for a while now and finally decided to post. "little lazy I guess" So I discovered that my passenger door sags and doesn't stay lined up. I the hinges are solid but I notived that the bolts that screw into the cab never get tight enough to stay put. I'm worried that the plate that they bolt into are getting or are striped!!! They are sealed in the cab. Is there any way to change or fix this or am I f...ed? 67 c-10 fleetside shortbox.

I checked the tech sections and couldn't find anything.

the hinge bolts screw into a plate that is spot welded to the A pillar. If the plate brakes loose, you can cut a hole into the front section, align the plate and spot weld it back into place. If it is just the plate hole bolts being stripped, you can re-thread with a tap and use a slightly larger size bolt. If the A pillar is rotted out--you have a major job of rebuilding or replacing.

thanks for the tip huck the a pillar is in great shape so I'll try to retap if that doen't work will have to cut a hole in her

They make a threaded nutsert that you can just drill a over size hole and install it like a pop rivet. They cost about $10 for two and they come with a special bolt to install them

I buy mine at a industrial supply house in town but I think body and paint suppliers would have them. Look up nutsert on the Internet and you can see what they are but on the Internet you would have to buy a box of 100. you might also try J C Whitney or McMaster on the Internet.
