My new truck!
I went to go look at that 71 Chevy yesterday and it wasn't as straight as it looked in the pictures but we found this one about 5 miles from the other one
It came with new drivers side cab corner and rocker. The bedside on the drivers side has a big dent in it and im just planning on buying a whole new panel for it. The guy had a parts truck that had a good tailgate on it and my dad got the guy to through that in to, because the one on it was kind of beat up. 1972 Chevy swb Edelbrock carb and intake and valve covers. 350 out of a newer model Chevy. Power seats out of a newer Chevy truck. Tilt steering wheel Kenwood CD player Not much rust just on the drivers side rocker. Not sure what kind of headers they are but they are aftermarket. It has straight pipes and it is really loud, It sounds like a stockcar Theres more but im running out of time to type it. I got it for $2000 with all the extra parts It runs and drives, But there is something wrong with the transmission it wont shift on its own in drive. You have to do it manually from 1st to 2nd to drive. Im not sure whats wrong with it. here are they pictures it not real pretty but im going to be working on it during the summer. |

Re: My new truck!
Looks like a great start! Good find. That tranny problem might have made it a little less of a great deal. But it's getting hard to find SWB trucks.

I have that Kenwood deck or one very similar. Mine plays mp3s.

Re: My new truck!
Yeah, me too. With those GM aluminum wheels it looks real close.
Looks like a good start Allen. A running truck for 2g ain't bad.

Re: My new truck!
Yup, good start. PO sure hacked up the doors, though. But you got yourself a shortbed and it's a real good start - less than I paid for mine, and in better shape.

Re: My new truck!

Re: My new truck!
did you check the tranny fluid?
is your vacum modulator hooked up to the tranny and is it working? the vacum modulator cost like 10-20 and basicly decides when to shift based on vacum and if it's not working it wont shift right I found this out the other day after pluging the vacum source to the maniflold and then driving and having no diffrence in preformance then I put a new one in and it worked fine so give it a check

Re: My new truck!
Nice truck! I also thought 1LoC10 sold his truck...haha!
I agree with Nate..I would be willing to bet all you need is a modulator that's found at any parts store for under a $20 bill. Last edited by drman929; 04-09-2008 at 03:24 AM. |

Re: My new truck!
is the bed out of alignment that bad, or do the tires sit rle far up in the wheelwells? Nice truck, a little rough around the edges and probably needs some basic maintenance, oil change, needs a new air filter, trans oil change, rear gear oil changed, so don't for get to factor that into you budget, and gaskets etc, but you will learn a lot and have fun w/ it.

Re: My new truck!
Not bad at all for $2K. Looks like a good starter for a SWB truck. Check the vacuum modulator on the trans....be sure that it's hooked up to a good vacuum source, and if it already is you might just try to replace it b/c they are really cheap at your local parts store...BTW - if it is hooked up check to see if there is tranny fluid in the vacuum line...if there is, it's bad.
Good luck!
