AD Chassis vs. 55 2cd + ?????

Anybody know what the differances are in the AD '47-'55 1/2 chassis and the '55 2cd + chassis' are?

I looked @ a '52 today, but the guy said the chassis that was under it was from "that truck" and pointed to a '55-'57 cab/nose that was sitting on a later dually chassis.

Just curious as to the differances, the AD cab was just sitting on the chassis, but looked like it fit pretty well over the rails.

The 552nd-59 all have a 34" width front to back. The AD has a taper in the front like the 60-87 c10.

I don't know off hand what the track is on the AD but its narrower than the TF trucks.

Hmmm. Maybe I can find someone who will want to trade. Or I can sell the 55cd+ and put the AD on an S-10 chassis or something - don't really want to do that though.

my friend has a 55 2nd series chevy and the frame was identical to my 54 ad. but from what i was told by a lot of guys is that in 56 the frames were different. i thnk that 55 was the trendsion year for the trucks. don't know if this helps.

Maybe someone could give me dimesions & pictures of an AD frame. I'm pretty sure this one is a '55.2+ because it has the original front crossmember with the holes for the front mounted V8 & the cab doesn't sit on the frame body mounts very good.

I'll see if I can get some pictures and post them.
