What did you get done? 04/20
I was on call this weekend, but I did manage to work around the house. I got me daily drivers cleaned up and did some minor maintaintance. I finished putting together the gazebo we bought along with the new outdoor furniture.
This morning I had yard duty. What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 04/20
Didn't do much. Installed a new idler arm that should have been replaced before i even bought the truck a year and a half ago and i spent a few hours cleaning the truck up. That was pretty much my weekend.

Went to the Super Chevy event this weekend in Memphis, TN. Found a few good deals in the swap meet area, and saw some sweet rides like this red '72 bagged on Coys.

Re: What did you get done? 04/20
Made a junkyard run Saturday morning. Picked up a tilt column and the last piece of trim I needed to convert my 80 grill/headlight area to the 73-74 look. Oh, the column actually had the KEY in the ignition switch!! Also cleared out some junk from my garage.
On a sad note. I had to leave behind a perfect condition hood that was already removed from the donor truck. I drove my Mazda for the 85 mile round trip to the bone yard, wasn't planning on or thinking about a hood for the truck. I've never ever seen a good hood in this particular junkyard, not for a 73-80 Chevy. Broke my heart but I learned a long time ago that I can't bring everything home from the junkyard. No way I could get the hood in or attached to my compact car.

Re: What did you get done? 04/20
this was the first weekend that i was actually able to get anything truck related done...
I posted on general discussion about a car show me and the wife attended last night a real small one on rte 9 in old bridge nj with about fifty or so cars and few notable ones only one chevy truck and it was like a 67 or so Today i got into my 82 to move it and she was dead as a doornail so i checked the cables and found my tester and discovered the battery was stone dead, which was kind of odd as ive never had any indication the battery was going SO i called my buddy who came over with his ameter and we discovered that the alternator was ok but my battery was bad SO we drove to the auto parts store and got a new battery and installed it. I did have a spark when i hooked up the positive side but we were thinking thats cause of the radio memory otherwise i have a short somewhere While i was under the hood i decided now would be a good time to change the plugs i had bought last year, and i found out my #2 cylinder is oil fouled I also changed the gas filter as the one i had was so old it had a brown tint to it As i get to it ill be posting a question about the door handle covers as i also found some time to change my door panels or most of it on my passenger door. I didnt get to the drivers side yet and i still have to figure out how to set in the stainless steel pieces that i bought from Beater C10 and i still have to drill the holes to attach the carpeted bottom pieces for the door panels hopefully ill see less of the orange on the door then lol i also got my speaker brackets for the rear painted matte black now im sitting here and watching my mets hopefully kick the phillies butts again

Re: What did you get done? 04/20
Got the 383 put back togather still regreting taking it apart just for a look. Now Just need to figure out how to replace the 250 in the buick with a SBC.
Also found out why my truck was running like crap. I drained 2 gallons of water out of the gas tank. This crap was soo watered down it wouldent even kill the weeds in the back yard.

friday order a 12" kicker truck sub box and amp wiring kit off ebay. (seems sketchy, but we'll see)
researched drop kits and components ordered belltech drop shocks from stylin trucks hoping to take advantage of the 15% (later learned it didn't apply to any suspension parts, not just djm) saturday went to the scrap yard with my step son. looking for a headliner i should have picked up 3 trips ago. ended up pulling a dual electric fan set up outta bonneville ($35) and a dual horn set-up out of an astro / safari. (very loud for $2.99) ordered a 5/5 kit from stylin trucks (spindles and coils for the front and flip kit for the rear) i also ordered pinion shims, new U-bolts and 2" lowering shackles. i'm hoping i'll have everything i need to get the much needed slump in my truck. parts aren't expected to ship until may 9th. sunday had to work but it was slow enough i was able to pull the old fan out and get the new electric dual fans wired up and jury rigged in place. took it for a short test ride and was very impressed. overall it was a fairly productive weekend. f.monroe: truck looks awesome. bravo. |

Re: What did you get done? 04/20
Started the 72 Formula, finished rebuilding the C4 for the Cougar, did some minor stuff on the C10, tried to start the 70 GTO but its outa gas, collected more steel for the car rotisserie, ethanol still, and a couple windmills I am building for electric heat next winter.
Hopefully tomorrow will be nice enough I can get the trans in the Cougar to test fit the headers, and tear down a junk trailer for the channel steel in it. The sawzall is my friend.. |

Re: What did you get done? 04/20
Friday and saturday I was out at the Grand Rod Run in Pigen Forge TN. My Brother Got top 25 at the show with his blue truck.
I also got my truck fixed. I was hot on the forge and My truck was over heating and I didn'pt know it til I got home late that night. I had water and anafreeze all over my engine compartment. So got a few parts after church went out to the show and then got home and went to work. I also got 2 of my dads rims polished for his 2001 Chevy Truck. Man I got a lot done today.

Re: What did you get done? 04/20
I hid inside, I should mention that 3 days ago it was 65F outside, and yesterday morning there was no snow on the ground.
Driving back to my apartment here in the city was quite the adventure. The highways around here are now made of polished ice. I was only moving around 15 - 20 mph tops, and even at those speeds and in 4x4 I was having trouble staying on the road. Even a slight wind was enough to make the truck slide! Absolutely unbelievably bad driving conditions, no one I've spoken with has ever seen this much ice on the highways around here, particularly half way through April!

Bagged 74, was the guy seriously wanting 10. I was eyeballing it myself, but never went and looked at it. Prefer a stock one. What are your plans for it? Hopefully spray some color on it.
