VIN on Frame????
My SWB 4x4 had the VIN stamped into the driver's side front frame rail. I cannot find it on my 2-wheel drive SWB. Where is it? My truck was assembled in Baltimore (if it matters). Photos???

I would think it would be there somewhere... unless someone ground it off. If the frame has been painted the stamping may be filled with paint. It should also be stamped in the drivers side frame rail about even with the middle of the door. LockDoc

Re: VIN on Frame????
I cannot find it. Does anyone have a photo of the location? Is it on the top of the rail or on the side? I want to do as little scraping as possible to find it.
Thanks! |

Re: VIN on Frame????
I have a '67 also, and it's stamped on the drivers side frame rail, on the top of the frame, between the rad and the #1 Cyl.
If you need it, I'll go get a photo of it.

Re: VIN on Frame????
I found mine next to the stearing box on top of the frame and on top of the frame under the cab.

Re: VIN on Frame????
Thanks for the photos! The spot Longhornman is pointing to is where my 4x4 was. I don't see it there, it must be on top where I would need a mirror to see it.
Thanks again! |

Re: VIN on Frame????
My 67 GMC had no frame numbers, must be a GMC thing as a 1957 GMC truck that I sold did not have one too.

Re: VIN on Frame????
I've heard ppl on here say 67 GMC had no VIN there, and then I've heard others say they were full of it.
I can't say myself. |

Re: VIN on Frame????
My 68 stepside has it stamped on the top of the drivers side frame rail just aft of the steering box.

Re: VIN on Frame????
My GMC has the last 5 or 6 digits of the VIN right where Longhorm Man's pic shows. On the top of the frame, near the steering box. I found it while sanding the frame.
