Spindles to balljoints question

I just popped in my new spindles, one side fits nicely without having to crank the lower balljoint nut down too tightly but the balljoint stud on the other side I really have to wrench the nut down to allow the cotter pin through. I haven't checked the torque specs yet but it seems the spindle is kind of stiff to turn, you can move it with one hand alright but I'm wondering how free the spindle should move back and forth? Any comments?

If the balljoints are new, the spindle should turn a little stiff. As they wear they tend to move a little easier. You might try a shot of grease & see how that feels. Also you might check to see that they arent rubbing on the top a arm....Im guessing dropped spindles. Good luck.....crazy AL

Yeah, you should be able to turn the spindle with your hands, but it should be stiff. If one side is looser than the other then I'd examine it closely.

Are you sure you have your springs pocketed correctly? If one of them is misaligned it could be putting extra pressure on that lower control arm, and not letting you tighten that stud very much.
