Re: 86 1 Ton Military Excess Vehicle
reminds me of my first vehicle. was a 1977 ex military ex national park service 1977 dodge 1 and 1/4 ton power wagon. I did not get the tank with mine but man for a brush truck that thing was So tough. Kinda miss it now but am glad I don't gotta feed a 1 and 1/4 ton any more.
I hope it serves your dept well for many years.

Re: 86 1 Ton Military Excess Vehicle
Yes, the fire dept. owns it. The only catch is, if there is a forest fire or the likes near our area, the forestry service could come take it if they needed. More than likely we would be at the fire anyways since we are so rural. The tank and pump did not come with the truck. We had to purchase that seperate. I'll tell you it is a beast! |

Re: 86 1 Ton Military Excess Vehicle
Those are so cool! I'd love to have the front & back end out from under it. Our Forestry Dept has one too...only time I see them using it is to get a biscuit at the drive thru every morning

Re: 86 1 Ton Military Excess Vehicle
These look so much better with a normal paintjob. Not to knock the military trucks, they look good in action, but on the streets I'd rather have a civilian paintjob.

Re: 86 1 Ton Military Excess Vehicle
Sorry to jack your post but here it is http://www.govliquidation.com/
not sure what it takes to bid, search for M1008 to see these trucks. Nice truck by the way! The military one's have a 6.2 diesel, 4.56 gears, locker in the rear, 14 bolt in the rear and Dana 60 in the front...

Re: 86 1 Ton Military Excess Vehicle
Thanks for the info. When they went to get the truck, they got to pick the one they wanted. So pretty much the best one out of the bunch.

Re: 86 1 Ton Military Excess Vehicle
The state gets first pick BEFORE they go to government liquidators. By the time they get there, condition varies . . . I've had 6 of them, great trucks.
