Need Help-What kind of drop is this?

Please excuse my Ignorance, this is all new to me...but I'm really starting to enjoy it.

I inherited this '79 Shortbed from my Dad, it was his love and pride.
Years ago he had it lowered a bit and I'm wondering what kind of drop this is?
I have a LMC Truck catalog and it shows stock rear height should be 34", front 32".
My truck measures 28" rear & 27" front from the ground to the bottom of the wheel arch.
It also shows at this height the tires should be tucked under the fender, mine does not.
I will be buying new 20" rims and tires and was hoping they would tuck under for that slam look.

Oh the lowering parts that are in it does say Bell Tech if that helps any.

I would say a 2/4 and the lmc lowering pics are 2 inches lower than they really say, if this helps any hear is my truck when it had a 2/4

That is a 4" rear drop, 2" drop shackles and 2" drop hangers.

lmc is with stock size tires also yours look a bit shorter. bigger wheels and tires may fill the gap a little bit better but it will probably make the truck sit a little higher

Cool thanks guys a 2/4 drop.

What can I do to get it another 2 inches lower without compromising the ride quality and avoiding any frame notching?
I've read a littla about a flip kit, can that be done without cutting up the frame?

You can do a flip kit with out a C-notch but it may bottom out. It really depends on what springs you have and their condition. If you really want it lower, do a flip kit and a nice bolt in C-notch.

Be sure you to make all your decisions "before" you buy tires. These trucks look awesome with a 5/7 drop and 17's, 18/20, or 20's on them.

Yes, definately a BellTech hanger/shackle kit which is 4" drop. Do you have pics of the front? And please post the size of your tires?

Also, I am curious about that pipe welded under the frame in the first pic. What is that for?

I'll take a few more pics of the front for ya, just have to clean out the Camera first.

The tires are...15" rims rear with 50's & the front are also 15" rims but with skinny 70's, my dad loved that drag car look.

The pipe you see is for the side exhaust, if you look at the pic of the truck you can just see it before the rear tire.

Looks as if I might have to cut the frame for that slammed look. I was looking through Truckin Magazine and they sell this kit called the "Street Scraper".
It comes with air bags and everything, that just might be the way to go.
I just have to pry the check book out of my wifes hands.

Just be sure to use caution. Chicks, especially ones you have a marital contract with, can fix it so you're writing them a check every month for a very long time.

I know what you mean, luckely I found a good one though...she's crazy about cars and trucks just as much as I am.
We've been going car crazy lately, we just finished my Vette a few weeks ago.
It got a new forged bottom 383 with Nitrous, new paint, rims & tires and new custom seats.
Here's a pic.


Next up is the truck which I'm looking to really make shine.
I just purchaced a new Edelbrock Performer RPM motor & new TH350 Tranny for it.
I want to make my Dad proud and do all the things we stayed up late dreaming of doing to it.
I'm also thinking of painting the top half blue like my Vette and keeping the bottom half white, bonding it together like father & son.

Seriously, there is no reason to shy away from a C-notch. If done correctly it will really help with creating a smooth riding lowered truck.

Please avoid the Street Scraper system like the plague. It is advertised by airbagit.com which is one of the many fictitious names used by AIM Industries. Anything that AIM offers should be avoided at all costs due to extremely poor quality products, even worse customer service, and shipping charges that will more than make up for any savings you "thought you were getting.
