66 dash removable?
New to board and to 60-66 trucks. I have a new to me 66 and am looking to paint the interior (and exterior for that matter) back to a factory original color. While cleaning up some wiring under the dash I noticed what appeared to be bolts holding the dash to the cab. Does anyone know if the dash can be unbolted and removed for stripping and cleaning of the firewall?
Thanks, Tom |

Re: 66 dash removable?
It can be, but it is welded at the windshield.
Not worth it to paint. I am putting a '63 dash in my '64, if I can find the time to actually work on it.

Re: 66 dash removable?
Ya know, there are four other places on the belly where the floor supports are mounted that have bolts in addition to being welded in place. Maybe it was an assembly issue to make it easier for the line workers.

Re: 66 dash removable?
I just repainted my interior. You don't really need to take the dash out, with the glove box door out and the gauges out you can get back there and clean it up pretty good.
