Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang! W/ pics
Today just 2 hours ago I was leaving for lunch off campus.
Since my truck cold doesn't like to idle, it seems like the vac. pulls the idle down and stalls. Well I started it up, held the brake and ran the motor up to 2k for a second. Let off my brake pedal and laid a 30' of rubber. Turns out to be a 10 dollar fine. It was worth it. But did you know that you still can get ticketed as reckless driving in a private parking lot. Thats 4 - 6 points. I will get pics tommorow. I generaly don't like being to stupid but I didn't see all the smoke till I looked in the mirror. Opps Last edited by green724x4; 05-27-2008 at 05:29 PM. Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
I know if NY, they can't/don't write you up for reckless when spinning tires - it became to hard to "prove" reckless - now, it's a dis-con ticket (causing public annoyance or alarm) - which means, without a complaintant, the cop is the one annoyed or alarmed... not sure how I feel about that.. (and I'm a former cop).

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
The same thing happened to me after my high school graduation. I received a "hot rodding" ticket, for turning the tires on a '93 F*#$ Explorer.... and the pavement was wet!
Congrats on the upcoming graduation!

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
I had a cop tell me one time that he was entirely too impressed with my burnout to give me a ticket... then he told me to go sweet up the remains of my tire and he'll forget about it.

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
The only ticket I ever got was in Clemson in '03. I got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign (right hand turn) on a rinky dink road that was about 100' long that connected two PARKING LOTS! Even though it was a first time offense (SC has a law that traffic signal violations can not be reduced) it was a $200 fine and 4 points.

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
i was in my nova one time, and there was an s10 with as v8 next to me, and we ended up racing from a roll. i got him pretty good, and then as soon as i was slowing down i saw the police car flying up behind me. he pulled me over and ran all my information, ect. he then came back with my license and stuff, and i thought for sure i would get an engaging in a speed contest ticket... but he told me my car sounded really good!!! and then he started asking me what i had done to it. finally after we talked for a minute he told me i should probly just go home, and take it easy!
so i did! Last edited by BurnoutNova; 05-23-2008 at 03:03 PM. |

Quote:
My best cop story... I came out of a set of tunnels in town doing well over 100 mph in a 95 impala SS I owned... (Love the sound of flows at w.o.t. in a tunnel) sure as s*it there was a cop sitting there.. The lights instantly went on and I knew I was had.. I pulled over and knew It was going to be ugly... The cop walked up and asked why I was going so fast through the tunnel... Being the smart a$$ that I can be and figuring I was done anyways I told him entering the tunnel was a sign that said maintain speed through tunnel ... So I did... He cracked a smile and chuckled... said that was the first time he had ever heard that one... He let me go and told me to slow the f*ck down... Then he started asking about what all was done to the car since he was driving a similar caprice cruiser....

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
My best one was back in high school many years ago. I outran the county sheriff, and didn't even know he was chasing me. When he finally caught up to me, he walked over and said " shut that noisy thing off, Is that as fast as that thing will run, I sure hope it is. I have a new 429 police interceptor , and I couldn't get within 3 miles of you." After I gave him my best " I'm sorry sir, I'll never do it again, sir, PLEASE DON"T TELL MY DADDY, sir" speech. He just chewed me out and let me go.

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
When my dad bought his 68 elcamino brand new and stopped at a corner by his house as he was looking both ways to see if traffice was coming he saw a cop and decided to see what his reaction would be if he burned the tires off it. BINGO the cops lights came on and pulled him over, he knew the cop so they both got a chuckle out of it!!!

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
well i got pulled over a few weeks ago in my "noisy truck" by a officer in a undercover darango. & he came over & started chewing me up one side & down the other for how fast i was going how i changed lanes unsafely & how that i was driving soooo unsafe in "rush hour" traffic. i too thought well this will be interesting to explain to the wife! after what seemed like about an hour he came back & said that i have 2 choices: either listen to his little speal about slowing down or i can get a couple of tickets, needless to say i took the first option & just signed the warning. the funny thing about it was that after i signed & he was "done" he said that he pulled me over because i looked like a young kid in a reckless & unsafe "old beat truck" when he got behind me. i told him that i just got this on the road a few months ago & that it has 4 wheel disk brakes & everything but the body is new & late model equipment! he looked at the truck & then he had me show him the engine & he just laughed & sad to take care & then he went on his way.... i just thought for a few minutes & then said ooookkkkaayyy!!! just thought i would share tooo......

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
got pics
wish I had video. Parking attendent wouldn't give me a copy. I am pretty sure from what I heard from people that my burn out was probably in the top 10 at my highschool. I would do one on video but tires aint cheap and neither is gas. Last edited by green724x4; 05-27-2008 at 05:50 PM. |

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
Ok, for the wierdest comment of all....
I am always freaked out by the term "campus" being applied to a high school. To me "campus" is a collection of buildings that comprise a college or university. You are certainly not the first one to "say" it though. |

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
Now a days high schools have maybe 5-10 buildings. Band hall, field house, auto shop, portables for art and other wierd classes. Maybe even a science building. Its a far cry form the all in one high schools up to the 90's.

Re: Graduate in 5 days going out with a bang!
I got pulled over 6 days after getting my license. The charge - "Illegal squealing, screeching of tires." The vehicle - 68 C-10 LWB fleetside 250 I6 and 4spd tranny. Man that thing would spin the tires. I lit them up in the Burger King parking lot. I told the guy that was with me "Lets get out of here before the cops come." I pull out on the street and the lights came on. He was hiding on the other side of a little hill out of my sight. I did have to explain to him that the truck was no equipped with shoulder belts and that's why we had lap belts only on.
I just realized that will be 10 years ago this June. Wow time flies. Wish I still had that truck
