best brake pads
i used brake best from oreily's and they squeak on every car that uses them because the cheap coating flakes off along with the grease, making a squeak. my friend with a 89 camaro used duralast from autozone and they worked good for awhile, but it's been 9 months or so and now they squeak too. what gives. what's a good brand of brake pads

Re: best brake pads
I've had good luck with pads from Napa, whatever brand they carry. Also I hear the pads Early Classics sell are good.

Re: best brake pads
I'm getting a set of Hawk LTS pads next week as part of my brake system top to bottom overhaul. Should be able to report in a couple of weeks.

Re: best brake pads
Unless you turn or replace your rotors when you replace your pads, you will get a squeek no matter what pads you use.

Re: best brake pads
brand new rotors in both situations. so maybe if i didn't get the cheapest pair of pads that would help too.

Re: best brake pads
I use the ceramic pads. High dollar but fantastic brakes.

Re: best brake pads
Use name brand pads at least semi-metallics. Napa and Carquest pads and shoes are rebranded like their filters. When you do the service, make sure you do the following:
Turn rotor or replace if too thin. Lube floating pins with silicone lube Use some kind of lube on the 'tabs' of the pads that contact the caliper or bracket. Replace the hardware(like shims, if they're not provided with pads, and the little retainer clips if the vehicles have them.) That's what we do at work and it prevents most comebacks.
