Bed cross sills

When boxing the frame how is everyone attaching the bed cross sills. Is there a notch cut out in the boxing for the nut or are they welding a nut on the inside of frame and not using carriage bolts?

Re: Bed cross sills

I did both on my 54. The front bed bolts go all the way through the frame on my truck but I also placed holes in the boxing panels so that I could have access there and also to other key points along the frame. I did weld nuts to the frame for the rear fender braces.
