Oil filter. Larger capacity?
I've recently found out that my '67 LWB has a 350 motor in it. I still don't know what from though. I think that it is from a car though and not a truck. I was trying to buy an oil filter for it last night and found out that there are basically two filters for most chevy 350s. I bought both just in case. The one that was specified for most of the 350s that came on trucks didn't fit, but the one that was specified for most of the cars with 350s DID fit. So I'm guessing the donor was a car and not a truck. (this could be totally incorrect thinking by the way) My only worry is that it is so small. All of the car type filters were really small. I would really like something that has a little larger capacity. The one I bought was the AC Delco PF454. Anybody know of a compatible oil filter that has a larger capacity and surface area?

Re: Oil filter. Larger capacity?
my 93 surburban uses that same filter as a 4x4, so still could be a truck engine, my guess is pull the block numbers off the truck. but the smaller filter was necessary for access. I think these two will work.
Carquest # 84099 Fram PH8873. (but dont recommend the fram) looks like a wix 57099 should fit

You can use Wix Part # 51061 1qt. or a 51794 2qt. filter if you have the room.

Re: Oil filter. Larger capacity?
You can use the shorter filter or the longer filter. The difference will be an extra 1/4 or 1/2 quart of oil and maybe a little oil pressure difference.
Most vehicles have shorter and longer filters that'll work the same. I use a longer 4.3L blazer filter on my 3.1 malibu. I just think that "Maybe" there's slightly better filtering on a larger filter. |
