Fan Clutch
I'm looking at replacing my fan clutch. Would anybody know the Napa part number for our trucks. There's about 5 different fan clutch part numbers, and just need a regular stocker. I'm planning a little road trip the US this weekend.

Heres a bump for you....
I bought one many years ago. The parts counter guy said it would work on any year, stock 350 engine. I'd tell them if you have a/c, ps, pb, and that it's a stock 350. Seems to me they should be able to help you out. But if they can't maybe someone here can give you some direction. |

What side is the alt mounted? Is the engine in the proper location? |

I would think there was a number on the old one.If it worked until it went bad then that number should work.

It's a stock 350, auto with 350th. The alternator is on the drivers side with the proper era alt bracket.
I guess my best bet is to take the old one with me to the parts guy at Napa. thanks

napa # 271305 this is a centrifugal type fan clutch. they make another type, and is a cheaper version. In the deep south, and at my shop it is the type above or no type. There are 2 different bolt patterns on the water pump hub, and I think this FC will accomodate both. Do not freek out when you drive away the first time. It will sound like a jet taking off.

Why would you want a centrifugal one? The one with the little spring in the center is better. Even at speed, if it senses the air temp through the rad is too high, it'll kick on the fan and get more air in.

Exactly. My experience with centrifugal fan clutches it seemed to work backwards to what was needed. It freewheeled at idle when you need engagement and locked up at cruise speed when it shouldn't need it. I went back to the stock thermostatic fan clutch and have always been please with them. Standard duty clutch is fine for stock setup. Go with heavy duty for towing and hauling needs.

my bad! the part # posted is for the one with the spring. If I read the description right last night, I thought it said centrifugal??? The one with the spring is the preferred type

Well I found what I was looking for. It was the clutch with the little spring in the middle. Since I had it out, it was good time the paint the fan and pulley.
It was also nice to see that the fan clutch was made ing the USA, and not China.
