Muffler decision
Time to buy mufflers...I kinda like the 40 series flowmasters and plain old turbo mufflers. Any ideas on which would give me a deep tone??

Re: Muffler decision
40 series flows won't give you a deep tone. They're loud and have a higher "metalic" sound.

Re: Muffler decision
I put a 24" blue streak glasspack on just so I could drive it til I got the exhaust dualed. I like the way it sounds and will probably keep it and add another when I dual it. My buddy has them on his Jeep and they have a great deep tone. Just my .02

Re: Muffler decision
I have some cheap dual turbos on right now and 2 1/4" pipes. It sounds pretty good for being generic mufflers.

Re: Muffler decision
What engine are you running small block or big block? also the camshaft has to do with it also if you have a mild or stock cam it wont be that throaty if its like an RV style or choppy idle then you have options. I have a set of Flowmaster 2.5 in and out Mufflers they are the 40 series Delta Flows, I wanted the regular 40's but the parts store guy brought them out instead and I also paid what a 40 would cost when the deltas are more expensive anyways. I ran this set on my Small block with a performer cam and it was throaty and deep toned but I don't have tail pipes either the exhaust system ends at the outlet on the flowmasters just before the rear axle and I now have that same exhaust system on my new truck with a big block and its still throaty just not as much as the fresh small block i had them on she needs a rebuild. if you go flows do it with out the tail pipes and you'll like what you here

Re: Muffler decision
At the Power Tour, Cherry Bomb was a sponsor and at their tent, they were answering all kinds of questions. I have 40-series Flowmasters on my truck and I'm wanting a different sound. They told me that the longer the muffler body, the deeper the tone. With that, I decided on a pair of 28-inch, 2.5 in/out Cherry Bombs.

Re: Muffler decision
When I get mine, I am gonna have 4" collectors and 3" straight pipes, with probably 2 Cherry Bombs.

Re: Muffler decision
I'm running CherryBomb glasspacks. Not everyones cup of tea, but the price was right, and I really like the sound.
Headers -> glasspacks (2" in/out, about 27 inches long) -> 2 inch pipe in front of each rear wheel. Ok, vids. ![]() ![]() ![]() that should pretty much showcase the way it sounds...hah. not gonna lie though, those Thrush muff's sound prtty sweet. -Sam.

Re: Muffler decision
flowmaster makes a new muffler, called the super 44.. they produced them similar to the 40 series, but are slightly deeper tone and not as snappy.. I bought a pair of them in 3". but haven't installed them yet.
supposedly they sound a lot better then the 40 series. if you liked the 40 series. i had dual 40's on a 350 sbc with lots of cam. i was happy with those too, but just a bit loud when you are barking at 6500rpm.
