Picked up a new project - fox body
Well as I always seem to do, I went and picked up another car today. It is a 1986 Mustang GT convertible. I have been wanting to build a Mustang for awhile now.
Unfortunately, my shop is not big enough for all the projects, so scrapping plans for my 82 2wd Blazer. Anyway, it was nice talking to different members of the board and sharing info. I am sure I will drop in from time to time. Steve

What are your plans for the mudstain. I know a few local guys for parts and stuff if you need. But it doesn't look like you need much as far as restoration parts go. I a few performance parts laying around though.

My short list are a cold air intake, Gear, and chassis stiffing parts. I would't mind upgrading the brakes also.

Re: Picked up a new project - fox body
Wish I was closer, I'd love to find a 2x Blazer. I've been thinking of converting my 90 to a 2x...

Re: Picked up a new project - fox body
This is too funny not to share. I sold my 04 GT to buy a 2wd Blazer so I could build something fast that wouldn't cost a fortune.
It's hard to make a Ford go fast. Nice car, though. My used-to-be car: |

Re: Picked up a new project - fox body
A long time ago I had an 86 GT with T-tops. My next car was a 92 5.0 convertible.
Fun cars!! I really like the gauge clusters on the 86 GT.

Man it's a tough call I am trying to think of a way to keep all the toys, but my shop is just not big enough. I just don't have the heart to leave the blazer outside. As far as the my 70 Camaro, I have had that for almost 8 years. I don't know if I can bring myself to sell it.

well, you do have a point there --- i don't know anyone at the track with a mod motor in the faster 'Stang dominated classes for that reason. Mostly a lot of hair dryed and stroked 302's

His car regularly rapes cars it shouldn't. It's a pure street racer, he won't run at the track because he doesn't want the bother of having to cage it. I did get to ride in it before he put the second stage of nitrous in it and it scared the living Good Lord **** out of me. He offered to let me drive it, but I passed. They'll run, no damn doubt. Just get out the wallet. Mine was the sexiest car I've ever owned, a pure eye magnet. I just wasn't willing to spend the bucks to make it run as good as it looked. It was too much a big money losing proposition. |

Re: Picked up a new project - fox body
Dude, whats worse, having the Blazer outside but getting to keep it, or sending it down the road just cause you'd have to keep it outside in the first place? At least you get to keep it. Unless it's a project with no seals or anything. Can it be left in the rain and weather?
In any event, I love 5.0's as well. I wanted one for a driveablt project this past spring, but my budget ended my up with my 81 GMC and that's why I'm here on this forum. I was too particular with what I wanted though and only had 2K MAX to spend. I wanted an 88-93 LX trunk car with 5.0 and 5 speed. MD law says 87 down = no inspection or emissions, 88 up = inspection and emissions and all the older foxes I could afford were real projects that couldn't be driven occasionally. In the end, I've always been a truck guy though. Nice find.

Re: Picked up a new project - fox body
Very nice car. IMO best looks, has injection, and has better seats than the 87-93 models.
