How much you got in that thing?

Old rusty c-10 asked me how much time and money I had in my truck, and it got me thinking...I'm sure everyone on here has got some pretty wild numbers and I for one would like to hear them!

Post a before and after pic and drop some number if you would!

Re: How much you got in that thing?

So I'm estimating about $2000 to $2500 (including truck), maybe a little more. I have had the truck since Feb 08, so I'm coming up on 5-6 months, I bet I have well over 100 hours in so far. I think one of the reasons my number is low(?) is that I have barely touched the engine, but with it looking so good I'm adding more and more engine mods to my wish list.

For sure...I was hoping to add to it with some pictures of what everyone's investment yielded.

Re: How much you got in that thing?

I bought it for $1700 8 months ago and have put about $2000 into it including the lowering, wheels/tires, CD player, new bumper/roll pan, tilt column, dual exhaust and freshened up 350 that is about to be installed...and there is no end in sight. I still want some bucket seats, new trans, body work and paint, rear end, and eventually some TT2s.

Re: How much you got in that thing?

I bought my truck 2 1/2 years ago for a grand, so fare I but 8,000 in mine still not any where done, the paint, primer, and clear costed over a 1,000 dollars, I lost count of hours working on the truck probaly close to 500, a rebuild mild 350 that had less than a 100 miles on it for $200 which I really saved there with 6,000 miles on it so fare no problems yet , th350 with about 1500 miles on it, suspension has new bushings, djm 2inch drop coils, 3inch spindles replaced a couple of months ago with a flip kit and drop shocks, replaced the front brakes acouple months ago, new interior, new wheels and tires, new front bumper

Re: How much you got in that thing?

Still not done, need some box sides, doors, cab corners, and rocker panels to finish the body. Then I can paint it again. I want to replace the springs, get drop spindles and a flip kit to lower it right. Also swap the cam and intake for one that makes more torque so it is easier on gas. As it is, its a dependable parts chaser.

Best guess is $1500, its nice having stuff laying around, like windshields, transmissions, engines, and most of an interior. If you make money off the other parts you sell from the donor, the parts you keep are free! Well pretty much. Another $2000 and it should be done and pulling the other toys around.

Re: How much you got in that thing?

I am thinking abouit 14k or 15k over 10 years of ownership, that includes rebuilt motor, trans, brakes, paint, interior(that is not installed yet).
This is what it looked like a couple months after I bought, the bed was so rusted I replaced shortly after I got it.

This is what it look like today, have all of the interior bought, just need to find time to install it.

If you are adding in that stuff, might as well add the cost of gas! I seriously made the decision to ride my motorcycle to work for 2 weeks so I could save my gas money to buy tint, and some other odds and ends.

Re: How much you got in that thing?

I’m at $4103.22; I’m keeping a running tally. That’s just steering, tires and wheels, brakes, suspension, and some of the interior. I still have the engine, trany, interior, and paint to go. I don’t look at it as how much I’ve spent but how much I’ve saved, Have you looked at the price of new trucks lately?

Here's my before and now but there's not much changed. It's been on jackstands for two months now.
