89 tbi crossmember

i dropped a 350 tbi motor with a 700r4 tranny in my 85 c10 pickup. The truck had a original 305 with 400 tranny. My question is why does my crossmember not line up. Do I need to drill new holes on the frame to bolt it up or what..

Re: 89 tbi crossmember

I did the same, just have to move the crossmember a few inches, if I recall the front holes might have been re-used.

Re: 89 tbi crossmember

You will notice that the linkage bracket on the frame is not lined-up well anymore. There is another set of holes that I moved my to (forward if I recall correct). It will now shift into gear but is a little tough, some tweaking should get it there.

ps-mine was bolted not riveted, it took 5 mins. hope yours is the same.

Re: 89 tbi crossmember

i used the same column that came with the motor and tranny. the crossmember i used the same front hole but had to drill a new one for the second bolt. (LEEVON) when you say linkage bracket is that the one that goes from side frame and insert into the tranny bracket... Thanks everyone for the help . almost there to finishing it..
