my new project

ive always worked on 90s rangers as projects, but i just picked up my 1st piece of old iron. 1967 gmc long bed. 306 v6 auto trans. 98% rust free and thats a big deal here in michigan. i have alot lot to learn about these trucks. plans in a nut shell ..... bag it and get it layin frame with a pancaked crossmember , swap to 88+ drop splindles with brakes, triangulated 4-link, possibly backhalfed but not sure yet. maybe a motor swap to a small block v8 "not lookin to build a speed machine itll be easier to rebuild and find parts for though.
well anyways here it is,

and hopefully sooner than later itll look something like this

Welcome and nice truck. And a custom cab to boot. I know what you mean about rust. Hard to find good sheet metal here also. Eric

Re: my new project

I hope you leave the trim on it, I really like the way it looks. It would be easier to find parts for a SBC but that V6 would really stand out especially since you're going for something that stands out anyways. Just a thought.

With gas prices these days I'd opt to keep that rare v6.

A second welcome from Northern Cal - excellent find in the midwest, I grew up in WI and as badly as I miss the small town atmosphere and nice folks, rust free trucks all over the place in CA!
