Different mirrors

Hey, I'm wondering if it's possible to put the tripod style mirrors in place of the small square mirrors. I think that the tripod mirrors look much better and let you see way more, but I'm not sure it would be possible.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Different mirrors

yes, but u might have to make new holes. i had the tripods on my 79 and was gonna get the new square ones on, but the holes where off. then drill holes in the bottom where they would bolt in.

Re: Different mirrors

I went from the tripods to the sport mirrors. I didn't take pics step by step, but you can see what I did here

Re: Different mirrors

If you decide to go with the tripod style make sure you reinforce the doors where the mounting bolts go through. If you don't the door will fatigue and crack or pull out.

Re: Different mirrors

You're kidding, right? You want the big farmer mirrors instead of the cool small ones? I'd try to find someone who wants to dump the big mirrors and swap doors, before I drilled a bunch of holes in a nice smooth doorskin.
