Engines
Would the inline 6 cylinder engines from cars be that same as the ones in the trucks? Found an engine on craigslist cheap, but its out of a 64 chevy II. Any thoughts?

Re: Engines
You don't want one from a 64 Chevy II. I think they have about 50 hp or something. It could be a Ford Falcon I could be thinking of though. The Chevy II probably has a 194ci in it instead.

Re: Engines
In '64, if Chevy II's came with a six, it came with a 194... Pass on that one. Look for a 250, they're not that hard to find, usually not too expensive. I have one in the corner of the shop that I may be selling soon, but I'm way over here in NM...

Re: Engines
Just to add fuel to the fire; if it is in fact a 194 and the price is reasonable, jump on it!! While it may not be the ideal truck motor, the 194 head is a highly sought after speed part. The 194 is the only head in that engine family with smaller combustion chambers, meaning it can be bolted onto either a 230, 250 or 292 and it will raise compression close to 2 full points. That's a lot cheaper than buying high compression pistons, and is the true six cylinder way of doing things.
