Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
I see that CCP is now offering Upper/Lower Tubular Arms for 73-87's. You can get them in either Airbag or Spring. Really considering a set for the Blazer.
The question......Does anyone else make tubulars other than AirRide?

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
Crush,... I just purchased a set of CPP uppers for my 71 2wd blazer to help with the alignment issue. I would suggest using the ART arms. The CPP's were a nice piece,... but their customer service sucks. Brothers sells some for the same money as CPP but don't look as nice.

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
Can they be used if you already have spindles/springs?

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
Are you saying that CPP Arms cant be used with drop spindles? If so Im gonna be pissed.
I bought CPP Uppers and Lowers and DJM Springs and Spindles, and was told they would work.

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
A few months ago I asked the same question her on this board and everyone who replied said that the control arms will work with drop spindles, even the 3" drop spindles that hit with the stock lowers. I haven't bought them yet, so I don't know for sure either.

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
Everything I have read or been told, you cannot use drop spindles AND drop control arms. Visit the suspension forum to be sure, but it has been discussed here before and that was the consunsus. Ken or Chris might be able to chime in and verify.

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
There are three types of tubular control arms. First,...the original "dropped" control arms that people like DJM came out with years ago. (this lowered the spring in the lower control arm to lower the truck)Then Air Ride Technologies came out with their "StrongArms" for bagged trucks. (No spring pocket in the lower arm so the bag would set flat) NOW,... CPP has a tubular upper control arm AND,... 2 different lower control arms. One for bagged trucks and one for coil spring trucks that DON'T have a dropped pocket for us guys with static drops that just want the looks and benefits of the tubular design. So everyone is correct,... we're just talking about different types of arms. Brothers Trucks also sells them that are designed differently the above control arms. Also,... from what I understand,... all the upper arms are designed to add caster and are longer to help with the camber adjustment when it's time to align the front end.

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
The CPP arms are a tubular arm designed to replace the factory originals. They are not considered to be a "drop" arm. They will work with both factory and drop-spindles. The upper arm has been lengthened to compensate for "alignment issues" (I was told they were lengthened around .5") that are common on the lowered factory suspension. I would recommend buying arms from ART if you're going with bags. There aren't a lot of options for tubular arms when wanting to retain the coil spring.

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
Thanks guys....
I wasn't really wanting to go the bagged route, but it's looking like that may be my only choice if I want decent customer service.... I DEFINATELY don't want to deal with another company that has bad CS (coughcoughSSBCcoughcough). Now to find someone with connections for ART....

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
Okay, yeah this is what the concensus was. I am planning on buying the non drop control arms for my static drop.

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
I just thought I would add an update to this thread. I just installed the CPP tubular uppers (for alignment reasons) and it drives better than it ever has. CPP builds in 5 degrees of camber into the upper arms,... so have your alignment shop try to get as close to 5 degrees camber, as possible. I still have issues with CPP's customer service, but the product is nice. I wish a board vendor sold them so we wouldn't have to deal directly with CPP.

Re: Upper/Lower Tubular Control Arms?
Thanks SCOTI for correcting my screw up. I must have been still asleep.
5 degrees CASTER,... not camber. Before it drove with a twitchy "go-cart" style steering. That is all gone now.
