Is this a fuel vent??
I removed my bed yesterday to do my cnotch and i got to see the gas tank the PO had installed. This is what i found....
![]() THat tube just had some tape over the end.... What goes here? Im assuming its some sort of vent but i dont really know if i should leave it uncovered or close it off completely??? Also, i noticed something that looked like JB weld on the line that goes to the fuel line... Here in the pic. ![]() Its dry and i dont think its a problem, but it kinda concerned me.... Any thoughts? |

Re: Is this a fuel vent??
looks like a filler neck vent. The tank i pulled from a 85ish burb had the same thing. It's more like a pressure release for when your filling the tank then anything. It should have a hose that runs right up to where the filler tube meets the fill door.
As far as the JB weld. I'd just get a new sending unit. The sending unit on my tank has 4 tubes on it. I just capped them off for now untill i can get another sending unit. or at least thats what i think. LOL.

Re: Is this a fuel vent??
Breather hose so when your filling up the tank it can release the pressure without cutting off the gas nozzel at the store. I hate that when it happens. My old tank I didn't put one in and gas would spray all over you if it filled to quickly.
J/B Weld...well you know the saying, if it ant broke don't fix it! ![]()
