need help from the grill experts

i acquired my first square body...a 78. a PO has a 80 grill on it and i hate it. i don't know if the grill has been swapped or the whole front clip. what do i need to put on a correct grill besides the round headlight bezels, grill, and upper and lower trim? are there round buckets for the lights? (80 are square). as far as i can tell, the radiator supports are the same for all years. will any year 73-79 fit the same?

Re: need help from the grill experts

i have a 79, and the light bezel is differnent then that of a 73-78. the 79-80 have the lower light below the main headlight in the same bezel when the 73-78 have them seperately

The radiator support is the same, the only difference is the headlight bezel that covers the full area with integrated turns.
To to go a 78 setup, you need to get different bezels and headlight buckets and turns.

Re: need help from the grill experts

Late 1979 Silverado's had it, and any 1980 pickup could have it with RPO V22.

Re: need help from the grill experts

Mine is an 80, I found a couple nice 73-74 grills and switched my front end to match. Still need to change the parking lights over to amber.

Re: need help from the grill experts

The front of your truck looks very much like my old one did, right down to the 454 emblem. It was a 78 but the PO had found a 73-74 grill in the junkyard and swapped it in. Still has the clear turn lights though. It sure confused a lot of people as far as year.
