I am cleaning up as many parts as I can with my new Eastwood Soda Blaster. After completing the grille I noticed some staple-like things on the back of the grille that must be to attach some sort of felt padding - not too sure what else to call it.

I quickly looked in the LMC catalogue to see if they have a replacement part name/number for the thin felt strip that would attach and found none. It was quick look though.

These staple-like attachments are brazed on the back/inside of the grille all around it and I was wondering if I should leave them on and find the padding or if you guys remove them!

By the way the Soda Blaster works great and I expect it is going to save me lots of money in the long run by blasting everything I can before it goes to the body shop.

How does the soda do on rust and primer?

It will remove some surface rust but does very little for anything that is eating into the metal. The unit I have can also be switched to sand to get at the rust. I may have to do some sand blasting on parts of the cab once I remove all the paint and primer and see what I have. The cab is in very good shape and should not need to much sand blasting.

It will remove primer but it takes a little more effort as primer seems to bond better to metal as i guess it is suppose to. In some cases I am removing several layers of paint including some of the original that seems pretty tough.

Eastwood web site has some videos of the small unit that I bought at work.

Nobody knows anything about those little clips???

I looked at them again and many are really bent up of missing and they are brazed on.

Should I remove them?

i am also just about done blasting the outside of the cab.

I've seen the staples your referring to. I just removed mine. Seemed like too much trouble to find out what they did.
