Now that the holiday is just about over....

What did you get done this weekend? I didn't get anything done on my truck, but did at least do a little prep for the tranny swap on my Burb. So basically, I got nothing done.

Re: Now that the holiday is just about over....

I've been spending time running the gremlins out of my electrical system. I got the wiring cleaned up on the fuse block, and the turn signal cam replaced, but I'm still having some issues with the traces and contacts on the gauge panel. As soon as I can get a couple more things working with the electrical I can finally get this thing on the road.

Build thread coming up soon...

Also cut the rusty floor out of my '69 Chevelle wagon, but that's for a different forum...

Well, I got some truck stuff done and I got some other stuff done. I'll start with the not so interesting stuff..... I picked Wild Plums and Wild Cherries (wife made Jam out of them). Yummy! I also found some Poison Ivy.... I'm good at that.

The truck stuff was pulling as many parts off of this truck as I could. It gets crushed on Wednesday. I need to go back over tomorrow and get the grill and front splash shield. I think it has a 292 and they drove it in a year or so ago.

Forgot to add that the wife and I went to the Iowa City, IA cruise night Friday evening.... 237 cars and trucks (they always get a good turnout).

Re: Now that the holiday is just about over....

Well, I bought a paint stripper and a wire wheel at wally world the other day and started to use em on the truck, I like em a lot.

I picked out some colors for us to paint a room in a bed and breakfast. Lavender and Pure white. YUM!

Also, we are now moving to a farm, yup lots of space for truck! I cant wait till we fix whats wrong with the house we are moving into.

Save it, save it all!!!! Is the clip worth saving on the front? Are you able to pull what you want? Free?

I'd drag that sucker home!

The front clip wasn't bad until they picked it up with the loader and pushed it up against another truck, then pushed another SUV against the other side.... Yes, I can have anything I want off of it for free. The hood is worth saving but I already have four of them. I saved the grill though, it's pretty nice.

Re: Now that the holiday is just about over....

Saturday I finished my first week at O'Reilly's Auto Parts.

Sunday I helped my brother get a mobile home ready to move, we gave it to a guy who needed it. Then after that mowed 1.5 acres of lawn.

Monday started my second week at O'Reilly's.

So all in all no production on either of my truck projects.

Re: Now that the holiday is just about over....

The cab is still on the chassis. The suspension is still intact. Doors and glass are still in-place. Oh, the brake booster/master cylinder is still on the firewall, so the brakes still work....w/o vacuum.

I guess you could say it's pretty will stripped. Four bolts and the cab can be removed.

Put a driver rear bumper on my '67, changed the oil in my '70 - my son was home, so that's where the main portion of my time went.

I went to a car show on Saturday. Some cool cars but only a few of our era trucks. Was sick with a stomach bug on Sunday. Finished painting my front crossmember on Monday between hanging out with the family.

Re: Now that the holiday is just about over....

I finally got the truck running so I could take all four weeks of trash to the dump. At the dump the carb decided to stick the float and flood out the motor. Got that back home and cleaned up the garage and power washed the house.

Re: Now that the holiday is just about over....

Went to the local junk yard. Got an AM radio $8, mint rear slider window $10, antenna $2, and a horn $2.

Still need to test the AM radio to see if it works, but for $8 it was worth a try. Ordered the window rubber this weekend as well, so I can slap that rear slider in to replace the rattly one that's in there now. I'm happy.

Also tracked down some double hump iron heads, casting number 3927187. Add a little kick to that 350.

Got my cowl cleaned out and put some rust converter and seam sealer on it, and had to clean out the mouse nests and dirt dobber nest out of my heater box.... And then it started raining so I didn't get to install it all back.
