carb return spring set up
what are you connecting the non carb side of the spring too? can i see some photos? i need to figure out to what and how to mount the spring too. thanks

I've got a Qjet, and the return spring mounts to the throttle cable bracket on the driver's side rear carb mounting bolt.

There's a small chrome "arm" that bolts to the second intake bolt and works good with Edelbrock style carbs.. It gives the spring a nice mount that's parallel to the carb. Sorry I don't have a pic right now.

well this is where i have it now, i need a new spring, but i guess this is the stock location? there is a small hole in that orginal spark plug holder bracket...hum

The bracket I'm referring to bolts to the front of the manifold. I'll try to find a pic.

Here is a picture of a Q-Jet on a 65 Impala which is set up like the trucks except the bracket on the back of the carb is different. It is a good idea to use the double spring setup, (which this carb has).
