How do you wire up a 72' column to a 63'?
I have a 63' wiring harness that I am trying to wire up to a 72' tilt column. I have included a picture of the wires, I tried to just match up the colors, but that didn't work.On the 63' there are a yellow, white, pink on 1 then a purple, blue, dark blue, tan on the other. Then on the 72' there is a white,green,yellow,purple,brown,2 light blue,2 dark blue, black. If anybody has done this please help. a diagram,or pictures or anything would be very helpful, thank you.

From the faq section
60-66 wiring diagram 67-72 wiring diagram You can remove the connectors from the plug by using a paper clip, tiny screwdriver or such and releasing the tab on the connector.

Re: How do you wire up a 72' column to a 63'?
This information may come in handy when yer doing the hazards:
Wiring my 67-72 column hazard lights in my '65 Chevy C10 This article was written by Woogeroo. April 24, 2005 It seems my truck(1965 Chevrolet lwb stepside) has a later model steering column, which has the hazard lights switch on the column. The '60-'66 trucks it seems had a separate switch under the dash for the hazard lights. "Even on the passenger cars, GM never had a hazard switch on the column until the '67 model year. - Royer (Chevytalker #5852)" The wire for the hazard switch coming out of the column is a solid brown wire. I wired it like so, brown wire to a 552 flasher unit(find it in electrical section near bulbs and connectors at parts store) and then an inline 20 amp fuse to a 12 volt ignition off power source. I used a multimeter to find the 12 volt ignition off source. When I pushed in the switch, I had working hazard lights. Here is another tip, that I did not read until after I had wired mine up but makes sense to me: "GO IN TO YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORE AND PICK UP A HEAD LIGHT PLUG AND A FLASHER . THE FLASHER WILL PLUG RIGHT INTO IT - Bud (Chevytalker #14717) poster on chevytalk.com forums" http://woogeroo.home.mindspring.com/...s/hazards.html |
