350 turbo trans shift linkage
OK guys, I know I'm not normally here on this side of the board. Normally hang over on the 60-66 and 67-72 side of the house. However, a recent engine change identifies that I may need some later model help in identifying some parts I need.
Here is the picture of what I'm looking for. It seems that my 68 custom has a later model trans and some linkage that would appear to be off a later model truck. I'm looking for this "lever assembly" In the Picture. Any help would be great. Thanks.... Hope that the picture comes out. Any advice offered would be great. THanks Last edited by soba_03; 09-19-2008 at 03:17 PM. |

Re: 350 turbo trans shift linkage
OK additionally, it would seem that the PO just driled the frame rail and inserted the "lever assembly inot it. I don't have the spring or the nut or the other asembly that this picture shows it mounts into. So anyone with knowledge of this please share what it is that I'm needing. I just need the shift lever to put it back in the PO operating position but would prefer to make it right. Thanks again.

Re: 350 turbo trans shift linkage
What year is the truck you are working on? Why would the po change the stock linkage?

Re: 350 turbo trans shift linkage
Well I based my statement that it was a PO because I was told the 1968 c10's didn't come with 350 turbo trans, this truck has this trans in it and the picture is the actual linkage in it which states that it's 73-79 gm 350 turbo. Not sure what was original on the 68 this was the only pic I could find.

Re: 350 turbo trans shift linkage
I'll swing by work tomorrow and check to see if these parts are still available or not. They could very well be the same parts as on my 1990 suburban with a TH400 in it. I will double check and if they are AND ARE still available I'll get the part numbers for you for them as well.

Re: 350 turbo trans shift linkage
But would that work in the 68 being that is for a 73-80? Steering column might be setup different? I'm not sure just a thought.

Re: 350 turbo trans shift linkage
This is the Trans and linkage that is currently on the truck it was this way when I bought it. I tried to straighten out eh linkage but something isn't right. Must have taken out a requried bend/twist..
I'm hitting a yard this morning to see if I can secure a new lever assy. I'll keep you all posted. |
