67 Front fender on a 72?

Can i use a 67 chevy fender on a 72 GMC. my front fenders had the blinker taken out and filled in. so rather than buying a 72 fenders and filling it in can i use a 67 that does not have one? or will it not line up?

Re: 67 Front fender on a 72?

no

the front of the 67 finder dose not match up with a 72 grill.

You would have to change the hole clip.

67 & 68 will interchange with no problem

69 to 72 will interchange with no problem

...correct me if i am wrong...

I am ok with being wrong. I need to know the right answer now. I need pics.

Re: 67 Front fender on a 72?

67-68 CHEVY fenders will fit on a 67-72 GMC without any issues. Parts catalogs even use the same part # for the fenders. Obviously, if you want side markers you need to use a 68 Chevy fender on a 68-72 GMC OR 68-72 GMC fenders on a 68 Chevy. OR you can weld them into a 67 fender, or whatever.

67-68 CHEVY do not interchange with 69-72 CHEVY.

Re: 67 Front fender on a 72?

I am wrong.

LMC lists a 68-72 finder.

The pics look diff though... in the grill area.

I guess you could.... but this is confusing me trying to figure out what we are trying to do now. arggggggggggggg

Yall are Absolutely correct...

I stand corrected. I see the part #'s

Not familiar with a GMC front end.

Thanks for setting me strait

Re: 67 Front fender on a 72?

Look at the part #'s on the page you just listed.

67 chevy & GMC use the same part #

68 chevy and 68-72 GMC use the same part #

*The 67/68 fenders are the same, just the 67's don't have the side markers.

You are partially correct. On a 69-72 Chevy you can ONLY use 69-72 CHEVY fenders

Don't worry about it.

Had this been a different forum, most everyone would have been an ass about it (and probably posted "repost" and "use the search button" to the OP about 10 times) but this site rocks and it's all good.

Well, its not a trick question. But that woulda been fun. The truck is a 71 chevy, the doors have the little hole on the inside near the vent window so those are a 72. I have no idea what the front GMC stuff is. I ordered a hood for a 71 GMC, so im hoping thats right. ahah..

So your guess is the front fender is a 68 chevy/68-72 gmc fender... Good enough for me. Thank you.

Re: 67 Front fender on a 72?

I have 69 GMC fenders on my 67 chevy front clip, no problems other than filling the side marker hole. the holes for the fender emblems are lower on a GMC though I noticed

Different from a '69-'72 Chevy, but not GMC, if I am hearing right - I believe the difference in the grill on the later year Chevys is the reason.

Re: 67 Front fender on a 72?

*EXCLUDING* the sidemarkers and trim holes:

67/68 chevy OR 67-72 GMC front fender (look at the nose)

On a GMC the grill trim "fits over" the leading edge of the fenders.

Re: 67 Front fender on a 72?

69-72 chevy ONLY. Again, notice the nose, it's acually "notched in" for the outer grill to fit OVER and "into" the fender.

(borrowed the pic from sactojims build thread)

I was under the impression that for a Chevy '69-'72 were the same.

Check Out lmctruck.com, that will give some answers, the only similarities in the body are the cab and doors and bed;etc. the fenders are different lenghts and such
