Re: 1955 chevy 1st series 3500 truck
The only grill that will fit your 55 will be the 54 grill. BTW it's not a 3500. If it's a 3/4 ton it's a 3604.

My '54 started out life as a 3/4 ton 3600 with 8 lugs. Here's my grill:

Yeah, as far as I know they are all the same up through the 1 ton.
Better check the 1 ton to be certain but I'm 99% sure it is the same as well.

Re: 1955 chevy 1st series 3500 truck
As far as I know, the only difference between the 3600 and 3100 was the bed size (8ft. bed and 6ft. bed respectively) and the heavier duty suspension, as well as the # of lug nuts(8 lugs and 6 lugs repectively). Of coarse, my '54 now has 5 lugs and a 6ft. bed. I wouldn't think the 3/4 ton farm trucks came with any extra chrome either. The grill was probably painte to match the pick up. I don't live on a farm, so my truck will provide transpotation for me back and forth to work as a daily driver. Keep us posted on your progress and plan for the truck. Some of the descision you make on your 54-55 1st series truck will effect your budget for the build. My '54 gauges were rebuilt ($1500) instead of replaced with the 47-53 after market gauges ($300). I hope this helps and I'm not rambling...........

Nope you're not rambling. However the 3/4 ton (3600) has a more narrow frame width ( I believe it is 9 or 11 inches difference) and the rear springs are set on the outside of the frame and they have open drive lines.

Re: 1955 chevy 1st series 3500 truck
The grills that fit the truck will be 54-55 1st series from 1/2, 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.

Re: 1955 chevy 1st series 3500 truck
I forgot about my rear springs being different. My '54 now sits on an "altered" 47-53 chassis. The rear is different. We had to build up the chassis for the bed to sit properly.

Re: 1955 chevy 1st series 3500 truck
I swapped my rear springs for a TCI set and added a rear sway bar.
