Hello from another Newb

I just bought a '67 Chevy C10 for myself and a '68 GMC for my son. Great deals on both, now comes the expensive part. The '67 is my project and I'm gonna need some good advice and tips. She's got a 327 block with 350 heads (from a 70 vette) and the original single barrel carb. Three speed on the floor with the original 3/4 ton rear end. The motor's only got 5K miles on it, so it's pretty solid. I want to replace the tranny with a 5 speed and a positrac rear end with disk brakes all around, so I'll be posting for advice on the particulars for this. A friend told me I ought to replace the cam with a high lift, match a intake manifold to it and add a 650 double pumper to get some serious power. It has the stock cam and intake. I've been cruising the net and checking with local part shops that specialize in older Chevy's but get a lot of conflicting info. Anyone out there done this with success and good results?

I'll include some pics when I figure out how to shrink them down to size. My boy turns 16 in July, so I'd like to get my truck up and running before then so he can have his '68!

We're both pretty excited about them! My dad owned one when I was growing up. My first truck was a '54 Chevy three window wrap around - all original. My second was a '37 Chevy with a 327, so I've grown up around 'em. Just haven't had the time in the past 20 years to get another one and spiff it up. 5 kids has a tendency to eat up a lot of spare time.

Looking forward to getting to know you folks.
