T-Case Q.

My 78 blazer's 203 t-case chain has started slipping, so I am considering putting a 241 in its place. A guy I know has a 88 suburban that is complete and is willing to give me what I need off it. Is this a feasable swap? The burban came with a 350/700r/241 combo. Will the driveshafts work? Any other problems before I start? Thanks

Re: T-Case Q.

The NP241 is for an electronic speedo. An NP208 is the same case but for cable speedo. Also the 203 has a driveshaft flange bolted to the case where the 241/208's have a slip yoke...

Re: T-Case Q.

I would swap in a 205 instead. eaither way you will need the adapter that goes between your tranny and your 'new' transfer case and your drivelines 'may' need to be resized. THe 205 would be the closest to what you have now.

A 241 in a late model 1988 Suburban (pass drop) will be a mechanical speedo. Gm only had these for about 1-1/2 years. they went to electronic in 1990 on the straight axle.

Also, although both cases are aluminum and they both use chains, beyond that they are remarkable different (208/241)

231 and 241 are more similiar, but still not the same.
