well we got this truck for a good price looking to do a s-10 frame on it and bag it with a 316v8

we are going to do some of the body work that need to be done and but its pretty much going to stay looking like this and maybe suicidedoors



is the motor isnt to far gone this is the one we are going to us

build your own kit its not hard this is on a 98 extended cab chassis

I think you can google 98 S-10 and get the specs on the chassis if you snoop around a bit. Most guys use the standard cab longbed frame.
That "GMC" engine is based on a mid 50's Pontiac engine. You might be able to get it apart and rebuild it but I would check on the availability and price of rebuild parts before going too far. One thing you might do is to latch onto the valve covers and do a bit of checking to see which years and models of Pontiac V8 engines they will fit.
From what I can find it should be a 317 ci engine but the valve covers take the same gasket as the Pontiac engines up into the mid/late 70's That means you could find say a 73 or so Pontiac 350 or 400 and after cleaning up the GMC Valve covers most guys peeking in the engine compartment would think it to be an early GMC v8.

On the other hand if that engine has special meaning such as it was in the truck Grandpa bought new in 56 it might be worth spending the bucks and they will be "BIG" that it will take to rebuild it. My bet is that it is just as rusty on the inside as it is on the outside and is too far gone to reasonably rebuild.

That looks like a 46, I found this web site while searching around the web for some other stuff and it looks like the truck that he has. I don't know who this is but he has lots of information on there about the restoration of his truck. It also appears that it might be called a 47 1st series. I found some mention to that on a couple of different sites so who knows. I bet the floor you ordered is for the 47-54 truck and not the earlier ones. I don't know if you can make that work or not because I am not familiar with that era of trucks. Good luck anyways and keep us informed as to what you find.
