Scotts IFS. Suspension built just for 67-72
Typically enthusiasts know Scott's for building show winning Hotrods and often overlook the largest part of our business; building independent front suspensions and chassis's. Here's a quick look at the 67-72 Chevy Truck suspension that welds directly into your stock frame.
Specs- 2x4-3/16" wall drop in cross-member. 1-1/8"x1/4" wall DOM tubing a-arms. Scott's Billet Rod Ends top AND bottom Manual or power rack with outer tie rod ends included. spindles (standard height or drop) 11" rotors vented rotors and GM calipers (all hardware and bearings includedP Your choice of airbags and shocks or Coilover shocks. All of Scott's Front Suspensions come with a lifetime guarantee against manufacturers defects. To answer the first question....No, these are not mustang II suspensions we build. EVERY front end we manufacture is built to spec and built per application. For example; you have a 67 Chevy truck and you are running a 30" tall tire. Ultimately at ride height you want the bottom of the frame to be 5" off the ground. Well, that's where we will build it. We will design a crossmember, then a set of a-arms, and put it all together so it will function and ride correctly for you. In contrast, is someone wants an airbag suspension and is looking to lay frame, and is running a 29" tall tire.....we can do that too. So you end up with everything you need for the front suspension for under $2300.00 to start. Of course we can add different brakes, set you up with the u-joints you need, or even hook up your column. Whatever you need, let us know.

Re: Scotts IFS. Suspension built just for 67-72
Because of the total height of the stock frame, notches for the rack are a must for clearance.

Re: Scotts IFS. Suspension built just for 67-72
A friend of mine has a 71 with this exact set up. The project has been stalled for a long time... but I think he finally starting to work on it again. Please show me a pic of how you ran the steering from the rack to the column.

Re: Scotts IFS. Suspension built just for 67-72
The rack to column hook up is going to differ just a bit for each application depending on the motor. However, typically it's only going to take 2 u-joints, or at worst 3 u-joints and a capture bearing.
I'm sure I have a picture laying around somewhere.

Actually I do have a truck here with the u-joints and column hooked up. I'll take a few pics and post them up this afternoon.

Dang that does look pretty far back??? Yes, it is in the right place. The cab was mocked up on the chassis before it left here.

Re: Scotts IFS. Suspension built just for 67-72
Well I could just sell you the crossmember, but it would be only good for a paper weight or anchor. They are all built to spec, but most importantly they are built to accommodate our a-arms.

This unit is not for this year truck, but here's an example of what they look like in bare metal.

Re: Scotts IFS. Suspension built just for 67-72
Here's a little better front picture.
Oh, and I looked at the one in the shoip, and it will take 3 U-joints; one at the column, one at the rack, and one in the middle with a stabilizer bearing attached to the frame.

Re: Scotts IFS. Suspension built just for 67-72
I think the "army" as u put it recognizes good work and craftsmanship no matter who it is. The members on this site look for quality, good customer service as well as a bargain. Nate gives u all of this at porterbuilt. This just gives us another great option. I have porterbuilts dropmember and wouldn't trade it for anything else, but if I was building another truck I would at least compare and consider Scotts product to everybody elses just like i compared porter to fatman, and Jim meyers.

Re: Scotts IFS. Suspension built just for 67-72
LOL....most of the times, the army attacks first.
Typically the first time I hit a board, I assume that the army will attack first, and ask questions later. That's the big reason why I wanted to make sure that I showed some examples of work and didn't want to spam the board until I paid to advertise. Anyhow, I welcome any questions as always. With so many suspension manufacturers out there it is hard to differentiate between those that just make pretty stuff, and those who make things that work.

Your crossmember has been out there for a while as a sort of 'universal' application that's spec'd per order/build. The Dropmember (the product w/the army of support), is a GM truck bolt-in crossmember. They perform similar functions, but they are very different & it's obvious.
