pulling truck ideas...

soi have a 71 3/4 4x4 with a good wrench 350/th400/np208. the front diff is a dana 44 and the rear is and eaton.i think the gears are 4:10 i have a 4" llift with 35s. i want to make it into more of a truck for doing local truck pulls and just more of somehting to do with my dad on weekends. i have a stock 400sbc and a 14bff. i want some ideas on what i should do to set it up for pulling more. what kind of power should the motor have? i would like to keep the gears but do a locker or spool in the rear. not sure what would be better.

I would put the 14 bolt in and weld the spider gears if you are going by cheap. Then I would go with 33" tires. For power it just depends on class, but i am guessing 500hp for a mid range gas class. That looks like a nice truck by the way.

14 bolt rear w/ a spool or welded-dana 60 front w/ a detroit-lose the 208 case & replace with a divorced 205 or the military np 200- add massive amounts of torque-take home trophies!!!!
