More questions for the options gurus
First Question: I have a Cheyenne Super with a blue bench seat, with the "blue cloth custom" interior, meaning the bench seat has the houndstooth inserts from the factory. I am going to be swapping to factory buckets and was wondering if they also could be optioned with the houndstooth inserts from the factory. I know that the vendors sell the bucket seat covers with the houndstooth inserts, but have heard that they were only available from the FACTORY as "blue bucket vinyl" and that the houndstooth inserts were NOT an option with the buckets. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks.
Second Question: I have comfortilt steering in my truck and was wondering if it is correct to be painted in black, with a black steering wheel, or should it be blue/blue to match the rest of the interior? Thanks again. Here are some pics below for reference. |

The Buckets Seats...vinyl only from my recollection.
Steering Column...Black only when using tilts...

Re: More questions for the options gurus
All of the tilts were black. Buckets were offered in houndstooth, but not in all of the colors. Blue was not offered. They did them in Saddle, Black, and green I think. Who knows why.

Re: More questions for the options gurus
Cheyenne Supers did not offer houndstooth in any bucket seats - they were all vinyl. All tilts were black and and I don't think anything above the dash was black (unless interior was black or parchment). There may be a very few exceptions to the tilts - I have some late 1970 dealer lit that shows a red tilt column. I also had an early 71 Sierra Grande that had a blue tilt in it. It was a mostly original truck and I did not see any evidence of it being repainted. I've had close to 20 other tilts and they were all black.
I've included a few pictures of trucks I've owned. The first is an untouched 72 camper with black tilt and saddle dash pad. The next is a Cheyenne Super with non-houndstooth bucket seats. Joshua

the top of the dash board is supposed to match the color of the dash pad.

Re: More questions for the options gurus
I was confusing the Parchment w/tilt scheme where the pad is Black instead of Sandlewood. All the tilts I`ve had lately have been in parchment interiors.

Re: More questions for the options gurus
Thank for all the help guys. Now I see that my truck is correct with the black column/black wheel. Saves me from having to find a blue one, or trying to paint this one. Also saves me a bit of cash in purchasing the vinyl seat covers without the houndstooth inserts. Win win!
