is it a 4-bolt?
How can I tell if my truck has a 4 bolt block?
it is a '72 out of Cleveland. I was originally going to do a swap, because this truck and motor only have 68k miles, and I thought it'd be a shame to tear down a motor like that.. but now I am thinking I might do a mild build with a top end kit to increase the output to around 350 hp, 350 tq... are there any numbers on the block I could get to see if it is a 4-bolt thanks

There is really only one way to tell, disassemble it. I've seen the same block numbers be 2 & 4 bolt.

4bolt motors aren't really anything special//if its a 4bolt the only real difference in a mild build like you're doing is that you'd need to buy more bolts

Numbers on the block will not tell you but if it is an original four barrel 350 truck motor from the '69 - '72 era, it will be a 4 bolt main.

Yeah, it is more likely to be a 4 bolt... but not an automatic either. I would be more excited to see the 10-20 stamping... a high nickle block is worth way more than 4 bolt IMO. The reality of it though, you are way better off just getting a late model 5.7 block, for the roller cam alone. |
